The dream and vision of establishing a private university, a citadel of learning comparable to those obtained in developed countries by Dr Maduka Samuel Onyishi.,the Chairman/Managing Director of PEACE GROUP has turned into reality.
The establishment of Sam Maduka University,at Ekwegbe Enugu State is an initiative bent on increasing the standard of education in Nigeria and the quality of it’s products.
The university which is now open to admit the first batch of it’s students to run degree programmes in several courses, has been certified and accorded an operating license by National Universities Commission(NUC.):
The National Universities Commission(NUC) through it’s secretary Professor Abubakar Rasheed on June 9,2023,acknowledged the fact that Sam Maduka University inspired by it’s Proprietor,Dr Maduka Onyishi, satisfied all criteria in terms of physical structures,equipment, laboratories and other qualities required for running a standard private university. Therefore,the commission has every reason to offer him the operating license to run the institution.
An elated Dr Maduka assured the institution will surpass expectations in the history of private tertiary institutions in Nigeria. He expressed gratitude to the federal government for granting him the license to operate the university and every other group or individual who contributed in one way or the other to the success story.
With facilities already on ground, Sam Maduka University is ready to admit qualified students as from September into the various courses offered by the institution. Under School of Computing and Engineering,the courses readily available for pioneer students intake in September are Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering,Computer science, Cyber security,Electrical and Electronics Engineering,Information technology, Mechanic and Mechatronics Engineering and software.
The School of Health Sciences is set to offer courses in Physiotherapy, Medical laboratory science and Nursing.The Law faculty and Pharmacy will also admit it’s pioneer students in September.
Meanwhile Professor Charles Uzodinma Ogbulogo has been appointed as pioneer Vice Chancellor of Maduka University, Ekwegbe, Enugu state.
In his determination to guarantee safety and welfare of pioneer staff and students, the Management of Sam Maduka University deemed it fit to construct enough accommodation facilities for both students and staff of all cadres.
Situated on serene a environment along Abakpa Nike Enugu to Opi Nsukka road, the coming of Sam Maduka University will endear economy of scales that will ginger development of Ekwegbe and it’s other neighbouring communities, thereby reducing the rate of urban migration into Enugu metropolis.

The coming of Sam Maduka University fulfills the dream of it’s proprietor,Evangelist Dr Samuel Maduka Onyishi, the Chief Executive Officer of PEACE GROUP in investing in the Education sector. The primary and secondary sections of the institution took off with effective operation since the past two years.
Further checks revealed that establishment of Dr Sam Maduka University, Ekwegbe, Enugu state, has retained it’s proprietor,Dr Maduka Onyishi, as the highest private employer of labour in Enugu. In expectation, the Institution will absorb more than two thousand workers directly and indirectly for a start,including those who will utilize the economy of scale of situating the institution at a virgin land across Ekwegbe community to establish other ventures and education sector related services. It is estimated that Peace Group already has more than four thousand employees with the Commercial transport sector,Peace Mass Transit,absorbing the largest chunk of workers in the pay role.
