Security operatives smash kidnappers’ den in Nnewi, recover bombs, gun

A combined team of police operatives and Vigilante operatives have on Wednesday bombarded kidnappers’ den at Nnewi, in Nnewi No,rth LGA of the state.

One of the abductors was arrested while two locally-made bombs and a Pump Action gun were recovered during the operation.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the command, Tochukwu Ikenga (DSP) in a press release on Thursday said that the police squad received information about the kidnappers’ hideout and stormed the place and rescued a victim.

He said the victim had been taken to an undisclosed hospital in Nnewi for medical attention while manhunt has been intensified for the gang members.

No fewer than twenty kidnap victims have been rescued alive from different parts of the state since Aderemi Adeoye (CP) assumed office three months ago.

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police while commending the police operatives and the Vigilante group on their collaboration which has been effective also charged them to sustain the onslaught until crime and criminality is brought to the barest minimum.
