By Felix Khanoba

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it generated a total of N188,542,400:00 between 30 September to 6 October, 2023.

This is contained in a weekly bulletin of the examination body which was obtained by The AUTHORITY on Monday in Abuja.

Giving a breakdown of the financial inflow and outflow recorded under the seven days period, in line with the transparency policy of its Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the Board said N86,709,570:38 was also spent during the same time.

While the bulk of the money generated was through E-facilities/sales and consultancy, JAMB revealed that staff claims, supervision of third party examinations, Corporate Social Responsibility, among others, accounted for the financial outflow.

Meanwhile, as parts of efforts to mitigate challenges faced by People With Disabilities (PWDs), the Universal Basic Education Commission( UBEC), JAMB and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) have doled out the sum of N24 millon for the purchase of wheelchairs and Talking Dictionaries.

Out of the amount, N12 million would be used to procure 120 wheelchairs to be distributed to only registered students with each geopolitical zone getting 20 wheelchairs, while the other N12 millon would be used for the acquisition of Talking Dictionaries.

The AUTHORITY reports that a Talking Dictionary is a speech- enabled encyclopedic dictionary that can be used with or without a reader, which is perfectly suited for the needs of the visually impaired computer users.
