From Ifeoma Ejiofor, Nnewi

Ihiala community in Ihiala LGA of Anambra State has banned cultism and cult related activities in the town.

The news of the ban was contained in a statement by the President-General of the town, Okey Leo Ohagba Esq.

“The attention of the Town Union Leadership has been drawn to the recent mindless killings and ungodly activities of hoodlums suspected to be cultists in Ihiala town and environs.

“While our renewed security operations remain in full swing and on the trail of these hoodlums/cult kingpins, it is now very pertinent that we further wield the big stick and save our dear town from imminent collapse to chaos,” the PG said.

The statement added that following reliable and unimpeachable intelligence report, eleven persons have been identified as masterminds of all the killings in Ihiala town from December, 2023 till date.

The community consequently, granted 48 hours grace to the identified suspects to report themselves to the police to clear their names of their alleged involvement in the killings, kidnappings and related crimes within Ihiala and environs or be treated as culprits.

“Ihiala youths are advised to heed wise counsel and shun cultism and all aspects of crime and criminality; and as well, take the lead in reporting all criminal activities to the security agencies for the safety of all.

“Finally, we call on the good people of Ihiala to be law abiding and to report any cultist or anyone suspected to be indulging in any crime or cult related activities to the relevant authorities henceforth. Let us unite to save our dear town! See something, say something!” PG Ohagba said.
