The management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been commended for mentoring Corps Members on leadership roles and also providing skill acquisition training for them in order to become self-reliant.
The General Officer Commanding, 82 Div. Nigerian Army, Enugu, Major-General HT Dada, gave the commendation when he hosted the Director-General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier-General YD Ahmed, in his office in Enugu.
General Dada described NYSC as a symbol of national unity, adding that the deployment policy of NYSC by posting Corps Members outside their State of Origin has exposed many graduate youths to know different cultures, values and beliefs of other tribes across the country.
Speaking earlier, General YD Ahmed thanked the officers and men of the division for their immense support for the National Youth Service Corps Secretariats within their areas of jurisdiction.
He however solicited for more security assistance especially through patrols on NYSC formations, Corps Lodges, among others.
Also, while addressing Corps Members during his visit to the State Orientation Camp in Awgu, Gen. Ahmed warned them against embarking on night travels and indulging in any act that can endanger their lives.
He stated that NYSC Management has partnered security agencies to provide maximum protection for them throughout their service year.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Christianah Salmwang, in her Camp Report to the Director-General said the relationship between the NYSC Enugu State Secretariat and the State Government have been very cordial.
