Ondo Guber: Avoid Aiyedatiwa, aspirant Edema warns APC

* I’m the best option for Ondo — Eyinlanwo

All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for Ondo State governorship poll, Olugbenga Edema, has warned the leadership of the party not to make the ‘mistake’ of fielding the State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for the upcoming gubernatorial election.

Addressing journalists at the party’s headquarters in Abuja at the weekend after he was screened to contest for the party’s governorship ticket, Edema said he wrote to the party leadership to be mindful of who they may want to support for the race, although he remained convinced that he would wine the party’s ticket.

He said: “I wrote an advisory to the leadership of APC, about the possible outcome or fielding somebody who has a challenged certificate.

“And I’m inspired by the book of Ezekiel Chapter 33 from Verse one to seven. So that I will not run foul of God’s law. So I have done my own as a watchman, let the party take its own position. That’s is the word of God.

“It’s not everything that is about contest. The party will intervene and I’m bound by the decision of the party. So when the party intends to intervene, they should be guided. That’s what I have done.

“If it’s about the contest, I will win but I’m bound to listen to the directive of the party leadership and they must be guided in their decision making. That is what I have done.”

Speaking of his plan to develop Ondo State if he become ls the governor, Edema said: “I was the chairman of OSOPADEC, Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, and I believe that for a society to grow, you must invest, you must learn to save against tomorrow. But most times our public officers think that when money comes, spend everything and tomorrow will take care of itself. I don’t believe in that philosophy.

“If you invest, and at the end of the day, the investment yields results. Nobody will be poor. The only way to fight hunger, to fight poverty is investment.

“We have cocoa today. I don’t think the government is looking at their side. By the grace of God when I become Governor, we’ll start the cocoa revolution again. We will make sure that there is value added. We don’t have to export cocoa beans. Why don’t we do some level of processing so that we can add value to it.“

Also addressing journalists after his screening, another aspirant, Dr. Olusoji Adewale Eyinlanwo, said the APC would be better off with him as the candidate for the election because “I have got very big ideas. I am seen as the candidate of the masses, as aspirant of the youths. The best option is putting me forward as the candidate of the party”.

Saying that he was not threatened by other aspirants in the race, Eyinlanwo stressed that the APC has done well so far but it’s important for the APC to put it’s best forward by picking someone who has the pedigree, vision and the credibility to take Ondo State to a very remarkable height.

“For me, I’m the best to unite the party, able to lead our party to victory and importantly for all people of Ondo state, make our state a reference point for good governance and that’s what I want to achieve”, he added.
