NAS Marks Democracy Day with Call for Electoral Reforms

The National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity) Zuma Deck (Abuja 1 Chapter) celebrated Nigeria’s Democracy Day on June 12, 2024, with a street walk aimed at promoting electoral reforms and strengthening the country’s democratic process.

The event, themed “The Price of Freedom is Eternal Vigilance,” saw members of the association take to the streets to raise awareness about the significance of June 12 in Nigeria’s history and the ongoing challenges facing the country’s democracy.

The Capoon of the Zuma Deck, Mr. Nnamdi Eze, emphasized the association’s commitment to democracy and good governance, while also condemning violence and rigging in previous elections.

The event featured a street walk along Gado Nasko Road in Kubwa, Abuja, distribution of fliers, and one-on-one engagements with citizens.

The First Mate of the Zone, Emeka Ukatu, and the Chairman of the Zuma Trekkers Club, Mr. Kingsley Ehiakhamen, echoed the need for eternal vigilance in securing Nigeria’s hard-earned democracy and urged citizens to demand electoral reforms.

The celebration honored the struggles and sacrifices made towards achieving democracy in Nigeria, acknowledging the significance of June 12 as a turning point in the country’s journey towards becoming a nation.”
