The General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboyi, the presiding bishop, Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo and other pastors have been listed as officiating ministers during the forthcoming 90th birthday anniversary of former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon.
The chairman national organising committee, Prof. Jerry Gana disclosed this during a press briefing on Thursday in Abuja.
Gana explained that the event billed for October, is a celebration of Gowon’s life and a reaffirmation of the ideals he stood for, unity, patriotism, and service to the nation.
He said the event is being organised by Gowon’s family, friends and mentees to re-echoe and celebrate his exceptional performances as an erstwhile head of state without blamish.
Gana believed that the birthday would remind Nigerians of the sacrifices made and the vision championed by General Yakubu Gowon, which he said is a clarion call to action for all people to work together, across ethnic, religious, and social divides, to build a prosperous and united Nigeria .
He explained that the thanksgiving service will be presided over by the primate of the Church of Nigeria, and His Eminence, the president of Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN), is slated for October 19th, 2024 at the National Christian Centre, Abuja.
The former Minister of Information and National Orientation, revealed that the thanksgiving service lecture, titled: Salute to Excellence, will be delivered by the president, African Development Bank under the chairmanship of the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Sa’ad Abubakar, with former president Goodluck Jonathan as a special guest of honour.
According to him, the three events will start with a lecture at ECOWAS Secretariat in Abuja, followed by Thanksgiving service and a banquet in honour of Gowon at the presidential villa.
The ministers of God expected to grace the occasion as disclosed by the planning committee included; His Eminence, John Cardinal Onaiyekan Emeritus Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Abuja, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama Catholic Archbishop of Abuja.
Others are president of ECWA, Dr Job Bagat, Catholic Archbishop of Sokoto, Matthew Kukah, Senior pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr Paul Enenche and the prelate of the Methodist church of Nigeria.
The organising committee of the 90th anniversary has 50 members.
