Gov Mbah approves N80,000 minimum wage for Enugu workers.

From Maurice Okafor, Enugu

The high expectations for Enugu state civil servants for increased wages in view of the prevailing hardship and rising cost of foodstuffs and social services is now an answered prayer as Governor Mbah has joined the league of state governors to implement new national minimum wage, approved by the Federal Government after an understanding with the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress.

Governor Mbah has opted that his administration will be paying the least worker in the state, a monthly wage of N80,000.

The development exceeded the federal government’s minimum of N70,000 per month.

In a tweet by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Dan Nwomeh, Governor Mbah stated, “I have just approved a minimum wage of N80, 000 for Entgu workers, effective October 2024.

“We appreciate the hardwork and sacrifices of the state’s workforce and will continue to prioritise their welfare in line with our campaign promises,” Governor Mbah stated.
