Wike hints on completion deadline for Abuja ICC

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike on Thursday, said the Abuja International Conference Centre being renovated by Julius Berger will be ready by April ending 2025.

He said the Abuja division of the Appeal court complex will also be handed over in September of the same year.

Wike gave the assurance while fielding questions from journalists after inspecting the projects, Outer Northern Expressway and
some ongoing roads work in the territory.

Recall that Abuja International Conference centre was shutdown for eight month by the minister in April 2024 over poor maintenance.

While the Abuja division of the Appeal court complex located at Dakibiu was flagged off in July 2024 .

Wike said, “We are very happy with the level of the quality work, by the grace of God Julius Berger will hand over the International Conference Centre by April ending to May.

“We also believe, as we agreed, with the company carrying out the project of the Abuja division, the Court of Appeal complex, that will be handed over in September this year”

Wike also revealed that the administration has implemented about 90 percent of the 2024 FCT budget, saying all the projects he inspected are all included in the 2024 budget.

The minister noted that the time period of the 2024 budget was extended to June, this year, while new projects are included in the 2025 budget.

According to him, “As I speak to you, we are almost 90% on the implementation of the 2024 budget. All these contracts are captured in the 2024 budget.Mind you, the time period of the 2024 budget was extended to June, this year.

“We are preparing for our 2025 budget. You certainly know that Mr. President just gave his budget speech in the National Assembly for the National Budget.

“We are going to submit our 2025 statutory budget for him to transmit to National Assembly.”

He commended the contractors handling the various projects for good job, adding that the administration would make sure that it doesn’t fail, so that the contractors would not find excuses not to hand over the projects on the time agreed.
