FCT poll: Female chairmanship aspirant unveils agenda

A lone female chairmanship aspirant in Kuje Area Council ahead of February, 21, 2026 election, Aisha Yakubu has unveiled her agenda for the residents.

She said top on the list if elected will be prioritizing of health and education sectors across the ten political council wards.

Yakubu is contesting on the platform of APC, she was a speaker of Kuje Area Council and chairperson of the FCT area councils speakers’ forum.

She disclosed this while fielding questions from some journalists at the state APC secretariat in Abuja, after picking nomination/ expression of interest forms over the weekend.

Yakubu said her desire to prioritize health and education sectors become necessary due to challenges face by the residents, especially patients in rural communities.

She stated that the absence of quality healthcare service delivery in rural communities has become a nightmare to the rural dwellers, hence, the need for her to make healthcare service accessible for the villagers across the ten wards of the council if elected as chairman of the council.

“It is quite worrisome that virtually 80 percent of health centers are in dilapidated state during my tour across the ten wards of Kuje area council where I met with the APC ward executives and the residents, which is why if given the mandate, I will prioritize the health and education sectors God willing,” she said.

She also said that the state education sector especially primary schools in rural communities in the area was worrisome, saying several schools were in dilapidated state making learning not conducive for the pupils.
