The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD) in collaboration with Near Foundation have provided meat for 150 displaced vulnerable for this year’s El-el-Kabir celebration.
Speaking at the event, head ,Relief and Rehabilitation of the department, Fatima Ibrahim , said sharing of the meat was to enable the displaced vulnerable celebrate Eid.
She appreciated Near Foundation for the commitment to reaching out to the less privileged in the society.
In a statement issued by Nkechi Isa, head public affairs, said the beneficiaries were selected from Waru and Yimuthu Camps in the Federal Capital Territory.
Corroborating, the Project Manager NEAR Foundation, Aliyu Harande said the sallah package was part of giving back to the society.
Harande noted that the collaboration with FEMD, begun two years ago, appealing to public spirited individuals to give to the poor.
Representatives of both Waru and Yimuthu Camps, Lailatu Abubakar and Christy Dauda appreciated the gesture, adding that most families in both Camps could not afford to buy meat.
The statement reads in parts, “In the spirit of the sallah festivities, the FCT Emergency Management Department,FEMD, has provided 3 kilograms of meat each to 150 displaced vulnerable in the FCT.
“The gesture is in collaboration with a Non governmental Organization,NEAR Foundation. The beneficiaries were selected from Waru and Yimuthu Camps in the FCT.
“The distribution was to enable the displaced vulnerable celebrate Eid. We thank NEAR Foundation for their commitment to reaching out to the less privileged in the society.
“We started the collaboration with FEMD, two years ago,Therefore, we beg spirited individuals to give to the poor”.
