In a bold move to shape the future of Ekiti State, Otunba Olumuyiwa Babalola has formally declared his intention to run for governor under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2026 gubernatorial election in the state. A seasoned diplomat and international development expert, Babalola outlined a comprehensive agenda aimed at redefining governance, empowering the youth, and breaking the cycle of elite-dominated politics.
This was contained in a press statement he made available to journalists both in the state and Abuja the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) over the week
According to Babalola, Ekiti’s development lies in leveraging its strategic agility as a smaller state, rather than imitating megacities. “We are not constrained by bureaucracy. We are fueled by intellect,” he emphasized.
According to the press statement, Babalola’s plans to establish technology incubators in universities to foster innovation and entrepreneurship, build digital education pipelines to enhance access to quality education, and provide a monthly N20,000 unemployment stipend to restore dignity and stabilize the economy.
Furthermore, Babalola’s “No Ekiti Voice Left Behind” policy proposal underscores his commitment to inclusive governance. The proposal includes a pilot program for diaspora voting, ensuring that every Ekiti citizen’s voice is heard.
With his visionary agenda, Babalola is poised to chart a new course for Ekiti’s development and empower the next generation of leaders.
