Nigeria’s retail landscape is taking a bold step forward with the launch of Oneway, an innovative startup using artificial intelligence to transform how businesses manage inventory and serve customers.
Mr Ogbonna Vitalis, who holds position as CEO of Oneway organization said their vision is to become the number one smart retail solution provider, not just in Nigeria but in Africa.
So far, the company has officially deployed its cutting-edge solution at Lami Spot Restaurant, Golf Club, Maraba, marking its first retail client partnership.
Oneway’s platform combines AI-powered inventory management with seamless mobile self-checkout, creating what it calls a “smart retailer” ecosystem. Customers can scan items as they shop, track their spending in real time, and pay instantly, skipping queues entirely.
For store owners, Oneway provides real-time stock tracking, integrated point-of-sale (POS) tools, multi-branch oversight, and powerful analytics to improve decision-making.

“Our goal is to give Nigerian retailers and customers a faster, smarter, and more secure shopping experience.”
He stressed that ‘Oneway’ is exceptional unlike existing solutions that focus only on checkout or basic POS functions.
His words,”Oneway delivers an all-in-one system. Its AI engine forecasts demand, optimises stock levels, and reduces wastage, while the self-checkout app empowers customers with speed and convenience. This combination bridges the gap between operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
The Co-founder, Mr Kenechukwu Anonye stated, “We looked at the pain points: long queues, stockouts, and inaccurate inventory, and built a platform that solves all of them in one place,”
To enhance the security of customers, Oneway recognises that digital transformation in retail must come with strong safeguards.
The company has invested heavily in cybersecurity to protect payment data, personal information, and business operations.
The head of Cybersecurity, Mr Onyekachi Eze stated, “From the ground up, we designed Oneway to meet international security standards,”
“Our systems use advanced encryption, real-time threat monitoring, and strict access controls to keep both customers and retailers safe.”
Corroborating Ogbonna Vitalis, the CEO and Co-founder, emphasised that the security team works hand in hand with developers to ensure secure coding, regular audits, and compliance with Nigeria’s NDPR and global standards such as PCI DSS.
With Lami Spot Restaurant as the first showcase location, Oneway plans to expand its smart retailer network across supermarkets, restaurants, and other retail spaces in Nigeria and ultimately across Africa.
“Our vision is to become the number one smart retail solution provider, not just in Nigeria but in Africa as a whole,” said Ogbonna Vitalis, CEO.
The Quality Assurance Officer,Miss Okoro Ruth Chimuanya stated, “We want African retailers to compete at world-class standards while keeping the unique character of our markets.”
