Accolades have continued to pour in for the Chairman of Tetrazzini Group, Chief Dr. Prince Donatus Okonkwo, following his conferment with the “Distinguished Impact Leader Award for Innovation, Empowerment and Humanitarian Excellence”.
The honour, bestowed on him at the Abuja Continental Hotel on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, was organised by the Humanitarian Service Diamond Awards (HSD Award) to recognise individuals who have made outstanding contributions to national development, community empowerment and humanitarian service.
Prince Okonkwo, who is also the founder of the Prince Okonkwo Foundation, was represented at the event by his Media Director, Mr. Alex Nwankwo. In his acceptance speech, he expressed gratitude to the organisers for finding him worthy of the recognition, describing it as “an invitation to do more to impact humanity.”
He noted that “society needs a touch of kindness to move forward” and pledged to continue his interventions in education, social welfare and youth empowerment.
A well-known philanthropist, Prince Okonkwo has initiated and supported several projects, including the Widows Support Programme in Anambra State, a scholarship scheme for indigent students, the construction of a general library in Ojoto, as well as investments in sports and talent development.
The 2025 edition of the HSD Award, held to mark the World Humanitarian Day, also recognised other distinguished Nigerians, including Dr. Nasir Idris, Governor of Kebbi State; Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi (MFR); Kebbi First Lady, Dr. Hajia Nafisa Nasiru; and Hon. Daniel Amos, a member of the House of Representatives from Kaduna State, among others.
The award ceremony, according to the organisers, celebrates compassion, selfless service and commitment to human dignity, spotlighting individuals and organisations whose impact continues to transform lives across Nigeria.
