Pitcher Showcase Lagos set to celebrate creative industry excellence

From John Silas, Lagos

The Pitcher Festival has announced the celebration of the creative industry excellence with the Pitcher Showcase Lagos on September 25, 2025.

The event is expected to bring together creatives, marketers, media professionals and academics to highlight the achievements in Africa’s marketing communications industry.

The Lagos edition follows the festival’s international debut in Cannes earlier this year and will feature screenings and exhibitions of winning entries from the Pitcher Awards 2025. It will also serve as the platform for the official presentation of the Special Awards and Academy Awards.

Among the honorees are PHD Nigeria, which will receive Media Agency of the Year, and Dentsu Creative Kenya as the Advertising Agency of the Year. Other awardees include OMD Africa, Dentsu Africa, X3M Ideas, OMG Africa, Tusker Lager Kenya, Martell, NCBA, and Pernod Ricard, which are recognised across media, advertising, branding and marketing categories.

The Pitcher Academy Awards will also be presented to emerging talent, including young professionals under 30 competing in categories such as design, copywriting, media and digital.

University students excelling in the FCLA Competition will be recognised, alongside the supervising lecturer and the best-performing institution. National winners of the Young Lions Competition will also be honoured.

According to the organisers, the event will feature networking opportunities, exhibitions and recognition of both established and upcoming talent. While attendance is free, registration is required via the festival’s official website.

Speaking on the Lagos festival, the Chairman, Pitcher Lagos Festival and Chief Executive Officer of CHINI Africa, Dr. Nnamdi Ndu, said: “We’re excited to be engaging with the vibrant creative community in Lagos and putting the creativity of Africa on full display.

“It’s a moment to celebrate the brilliance of our industry and the bold ideas that continue to shape its future. We’re especially proud to honour those who are inspiring the next generation to dream bigger, create bolder, and push the boundaries of what’s possible.”

He further highlighted the festival’s role in nurturing the next generation of creatives through programmes like the Future Creative Leaders Academy.

Ndu, who is the chairman of the festival, emphasised its goal to celebrate and empower African creativity, bringing together and showcasing outstanding work from across the continent.

He expressed excitement about collaborations, such as the one with TVC News for Pitcher Festival 2025, to ensure that the festival’s key moments and the spirit of African creativity are accessible to a wider audience.

Speaking on Nurturing Future Talent, Ndu said “we have supported initiatives like the Future Creative Leaders Academy, an intensive programme for tertiary students aiming to become advertising professionals, which helps shape the future of innovation in Africa.”
