Following a bandit attack on a community and joint task force base at Gwana District, Alkaleri LGA of Bauchi State, operatives of the police command have neutralized 7 of the attackers in the ensuing gun battle.
A statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, said that, unfortunately, 2 soldiers of the 33 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Bauchi, and a vigilante, were killed during the encounter with the anti-kidnapping unit, AKU, of the police command.
The statement which added that 3 members of the community were abducted by the assailants, stated that additional security forces have been deployed to restore order, protect displaced civilians, and prevent further attacks.
“The CP, Mr Sani-Omolori Aliyu, assures the public that monitoring and surveillance gathering are on going to track, arrest the fleeing assailants, and rescue victims. Further updates will be provided as the situation unfolds,” the statement concluded.
