The Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Justice, Rt.Hon.(Barr).Sunday Cyriacus Umeha,has left no one in doubt of his commitment to Nation building and projection of the interest of the South East zone, Enugu state and Ezeagu/Udi Federal Constituency, which he represents in the 10th National Assembly.
The lawyer-cum politician has been weathering the storm in the past two years plus to make landmark achievements that is lubricating National unity and endearing the Igbo nation to the center of National politicking.
The success story of the long cherished South East Development Commission board turning into reality, owes a gratitude in parts to Rt.Hon.Sunday Cyriacus Umeha.
He was among the vocal House of Representatives members who pleaded with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to give a quick assent to the bill . President Tinubu broke the jinx of acclaimed marginalisation of the South East zone in this aspect and signed the bill into law, after about a decade the bill was put on hold at the National Assembly.
Rt Hon Sunday Umeha in his approach and style of politics has proved that he is nationalistic and is very supportive of the various Economic agenda of the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
His words for Nigerians, especially the people of the South East zone for the 2025 Christmas season was prayer and abiding faith in President Tinubu’s administration.
In his Facebook page, Hon.Umeha stated, “Inspite of our challenges as a nation,We have continued to make progress in leaps and bounds,Challenging the odds that strive to regress our progression”.
The Federal Lawmaker urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the unity and progress,stating that Nigeria’s future remains bright and together we can still attain great heights.
Hon.Umeha again proved his nationalistic approach to politics,by being the first Federal Lawmaker from Enugu state in the current dispensation to join APC.
Though he was elected on the platform of Labour Party, the lawyer cum politician stressed that the leadership crisis in his then party (LP) and his quest to facilitate socio infrastructural development of Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constiuency,as his reasons for joining APC.
The Authority Newspaper recalled that at a grand reception held in his honour at Akama Oghe Civic Center in Ezeagu local government area of Enugu state,in May 2025,Rt.Hon.Umeha collapsed all his political structure in Labour party into APC.
He assured he will further work hard to see APC succeed in Enugu state. Like Nostradamus, Hon. Umeha predicted that Enugu State as the Political capital of South East zone have no business being outside the National Political Stream.
It was observed that Rt Hon.Umeha’s entrance into APC was the floodgate that paved way for other House of Representatives Legislators from Enugu state to embrace APC.
The likes of Professor Sunday Nnamchi, representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo- Federal Constiuency and Hon.Chimaobi Atu, representing Enugu North/South Federal Constiuency, who were equally elected on the platform of Labour party took after Hon.Umeha into APC.
The vision and wish of Hon.Umeha for Enugu state to become an APC state thoroughly became a reality, when Governor Peter Mbah, with other National legislators from Enugu state and the entire PDP structure in Enugu state, at a mammoth political fanfare held at Okpara Square,Enugu on Tuesday,October 14th 2025.
The cross over to APC from PDP,which was the ruling party in Enugu state before then,was witnessed by the Vice President Kashim Shettima and the Senate Prresident, Senator Godswill Akpabio, with other National Officers of the ruling party,APC.
It was a unique event that’s still remarkable in the history of Enugu state politics since the return of the fourth republic democratic dispensation in 1999.
At the moment, Governor Peter Mbah testified that Enugu state is currently enjoying the benefits of allying to the center by joining APC.
Biblically,Rt.Hon. Sunday Cyriacus Umeha can be adjudged as the John the Baptist of APC in Enugu state.
The Ezeagu/Udi Federal legislator acknowledges the innovative transformation agenda of Governor Peter Mbah in Enugu state with series of achievements in the past two and half years.
Though a Federal Lawmaker who have kept faith in the art of Lawmaking for national growth,Hon.Umeha through his Constiuency projects, has impacted on the lives of citizens of Ezeagu/Udi Federal Constiuency and attracted developmental projects.
As part of his Constiuency projects,Rt.Hon.Umeha has facilitated the installation of solar powered street lights in some communities in Ezeagu/Udi Federal Constiuency. At the last count, he has illuminated over sixty (60) places of worship within the Constituency with solar Street lights.
He has also provided solar powered borehole in Amaeke Ngwo, Ugwuto Nsude, Umuase Ngwo, Eke Udi Village square in Udi, Obioma (ongoing) Imama Iwollo(ongoing).
Rt. Hon. Sunday Umeha is currently undertaking first phase of road constructions in Akama Oghe Road, Amansiodo Road, Amankwo Oghe Road and Amokwe Uboji Ngwo Road. All these roads are under construction courtesy of Hon. Umeha.
His passion for youth empowerment and capacity building for his constituents is unparralled. Many of the constituents are accommodated in his scholarship scheme for brilliant youths with little or no means of furthering their education. Free WAEC and JAMB registration which have covered over One Thousand Constituents in the past two years plus.
He facilitated the building of 6 blocks of school classroom in Imezi Olo and 3 blocks of school classroom in Amansiodo Communities. He sponsors Ezeagu/Udi annual unity football competition,which has remained an avenue for discovering talented Ezeagu/Udi football players.
Hon. Umeha has also secured job opportunities for many unemployed graduates from his Constiuency and still counting. He’s also given Business Grants to over Thirty (30) constituents at the last count. He is not relenting in protecting and projecting the interest of his constituents in all ramifications.
Just two and half years on the saddle,Rt Hon.Sunday Cyriacus Umeha,silently is among the National legislators who arduosly are focused on National development in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
At 43, Rt.Hon.Umeha is really ready and willing to remain on the track. He has proved beyond measures that he is the right person on the track for Ezeagu/Udi Federal Constiuency as the winds of 2027 politics is gaining momentum.
His performance and antecedents are already speaking volumes for him against expected propaganda by his detractors.

From all indications, events ahead will unveil the effective representation of Hon.Umeha for Ezeagu/Udi Federal Constiuency in the 10th National Assembly, His commitment and contribution to Nation building. Thus, the imperatives for him to continue in 2027 with age on his side and the advantage of being a brilliant lawyer. Obviously, Nigeria needs more from Rt. Hon.(Barr.) Sunday Cyriacus Umeha and his likes in 2027.
