President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, resilience, and shared sacrifice as the country navigates economic and security challenges.
In his 2026 Easter message released on Friday, the President extended greetings to Christians in Nigeria and across the world, noting that the season symbolises sacrifice, hope, and the triumph of light over darkness.
Tinubu said the message of Easter is particularly relevant to Nigeria’s current realities, as citizens endure economic strain and security concerns while the government intensifies efforts to address them.
“True transformation cannot be achieved without sacrifice,” the President said, adding that enduring progress often emerges in difficult times.
He acknowledged that insecurity remains a major challenge despite the efforts of security agencies, commending the Armed Forces for their sacrifices in confronting terrorism and banditry across the country.
The President disclosed that his administration is increasing resources and strengthening international partnerships to tackle insecurity, expressing confidence that ongoing efforts are beginning to yield results.
Tinubu also referenced his recent visit to Plateau State, where he met with victims of violence in Jos and assured residents of improved security and government support.
“No nation can thrive where fear prevails, and no progress can be sustained without peace,” he said, urging citizens to support lawful efforts aimed at restoring stability and to reject actions that threaten national unity.
On the economy, the President maintained that ongoing reforms, though difficult in the short term, are designed to achieve long-term prosperity and shared growth for Nigerians.
He also urged political actors to conduct themselves responsibly as the country approaches another electoral cycle, stressing the need to adhere to the Electoral Act and uphold democratic values.
“Democracy flourishes where responsibility, restraint, and informed participation prevail,” Tinubu said.
Expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future, the President said economic indicators suggest the country is on the right path, assuring citizens that “a new dawn is on the horizon.”
He thanked Nigerians for their continued support and urged them to remain steadfast in contributing to national development.
“I will continue to serve to retain your trust,” Tinubu said, wishing citizens a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration.
