Group Slams ‘Political Jobbers,’ Dismisses Alleged Move Against Senator Karimi

A civil society group, the Volunteer Media Advocacy for Accountable Leadership, has dismissed as “baseless and politically motivated” claims that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lokoja passed a vote of no confidence on Sunday Karimi.

In a statement signed by its Country Director of Mobilisation, Joseph Ezejiegu, the group described those behind the allegation as “political jobbers parading themselves within the party and the state with the sole aim of creating disunity and destabilising the existing peaceful democratic order.”

The statement argued that no credible or constitutionally recognised organ of the party in Lokoja or Kogi State convened any meeting to pass such a resolution, insisting that the claim exists only in the imagination of individuals seeking relevance.

According to the group, “these elements have consistently attempted to mislead the public with fabricated narratives, but their actions only expose a desperation to remain politically visible at the expense of truth and party cohesion.”

The organisation reaffirmed that Senator Karimi remains widely accepted within his constituency, noting that his leadership style is rooted in democratic engagement, consultation, and inclusiveness.

“Senator Sunday Karimi is a committed democrat who believes strongly in reaching out to his people across the senatorial district. His track record reflects continuous engagement with constituents, responsiveness to their needs, and a genuine commitment to their welfare,” the statement read.

The group further stressed that the senator has maintained open channels of communication with stakeholders, youth groups, and community leaders, which it said contradicts the narrative of political rejection being circulated.

It added that Karimi remains focused on delivering dividends of democracy and has shown readiness to do even more for the people he represents.

“He is not distracted by propaganda. Rather, he is strengthening his resolve to provide effective representation and attract meaningful development to his district,” Aminu stated.

The group urged members of the public and party faithful to disregard what it termed “malicious political theatre,” calling instead for unity within the APC and continued support for leaders committed to democratic ideals.

It also cautioned against the spread of misinformation capable of heating up the polity, emphasizing the need to sustain peace and stability in Kogi State.
