Senator Ede Dafinone has expressed gratitude to leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following his victory at the party’s Delta Central Senatorial Primary Election, pledging to work towards strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dafinone, who emerged winner of the primary with 116,252 votes across the eight local government areas of Delta Central, described the exercise as transparent, peaceful and credible, saying the outcome reflected the true wishes of party delegates and faithful in the district.
In a statement issued on Monday, the lawmaker said the conduct of the exercise demonstrated that democracy remained strong within the APC despite the highly competitive political environment in Delta Central.
“Today marks a defining moment for our great party, the APC, and for the people of Delta Central Senatorial District. I stand deeply humbled, profoundly grateful, and fully committed to the responsibility entrusted to me through this resounding victory,” he said.
The senator commended Sheriff Oborevwori for what he described as his commitment to the unity and stability of the APC in Delta State, noting that the governor’s leadership contributed significantly to the peaceful conduct of the primary election.
He also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing national leadership that continues to inspire confidence in the country’s democratic process.
Dafinone further thanked the APC National Chairman, members of the National Working Committee and the APC National Assembly Primary Committee for ensuring what he called a level playing field during the exercise.
The senator equally acknowledged party elders, women, youths, stakeholders and supporters for their loyalty and support throughout the primary process.
According to him, the overwhelming votes recorded in the election signified the confidence of party members in his vision for Delta Central and placed on him a responsibility to continue serving with integrity and dedication.
He also extended appreciation to the Collation Officer, Hon. Dr. Okiemute E. Benjamin, Barr. Nusa Amagbor, Secretary of the APC National Assembly Primary Committee, and committee member, Abimbola Samuel Dart, for their professionalism during the exercise.
Dafinone used the occasion to call for reconciliation within the party, extending what he described as a hand of fellowship to former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege and his supporters.
“Elections and primaries may come with competition, but at the end of the day, we remain members of one political family with a shared vision for the advancement of Delta State and Nigeria,” he stated.
He urged APC members in Delta State to unite and work collectively towards securing victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
The senator reiterated his commitment to promoting development, empowerment, security, economic growth and effective representation for the people of Delta Central, while assuring supporters that he would not betray the confidence reposed in him.
