It was indeed a great beginning for the children with special needs at Nnewi Anglican Diocesan Special Education Center (DSEC) in Anambra State as CEDYK visited them on Monday.
The branch Coordinator, Mr Danchimah Eberechukwu Joseph was accompanied on the visit by Mrs Peace Amaka Dike, Secretary of CEDYK and other members of the executive council.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Joseph pointed out that his group decided to visit the children with special needs on June 1st, to inspire them.
He tasked other humanitarian groups and public spirited individuals to always endeavor to extend hands of fellowship to the center so as to give the children a sense of belonging.
Mr Joseph said that visit to the less privileged persons in the society is top priority for CEDYK.
The Nnewi North Coordinator of CEDYK applauded the Nnewi Anglican Diocesan for setting up the facility to take the children with special needs off the streets.
He also thumbed up the Matron, the care givers and all persons working at DSEC for what he called their sacrifice of love for humanity.
The duo of Sis Chinyere Ali and Sis Mary Akolisa who received the CEDYK delegation thanked the group for taking out time to visit the children with special needs inspite of their busy schedules.
They tasked other humanitarian groups and affluent individuals in the society to borrow a leaf from the group who strategically chose the first day of the month to visit.
The caregivers while appreciating the Bishop of Nnewi Anglican Diocesan, Bishop, Rt Rev’d Ndubuisi Obi for his unflinching support for the home also called on the public spirited individuals to rise in support of the children.
“This facility is a topnotch, it was specially and specifically built for the comfort of the children here but we are in dire need of solar power devices for effective management of this magnificent structure,” Sis Akolisa stressed.
In an interview after the visit, a 70-year old member of the group, Mr James Uzochukwu Iwudo from Akabo-Edoji, Uruagu-Nnewi said he decided to join CEDYK so as to be part of the efforts to empower the powerless persons in the society.
