The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored power on the Benin–Omotosho 330kV transmission line following the successful completion of repair works on the facility.
In a statement issued on Friday by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the company said the transmission line was restored at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, after engineers completed maintenance on the affected sections.
According to TCN, the transmission line had been out of service since June 25, 2026, following the detachment of conductors, which disrupted electricity transmission along the corridor.
The company said its engineers immediately commenced repair works, including restringing the detached conductors and carrying out maintenance to ensure the safe restoration of the line.
“The restoration followed an outage on the line on June 25, 2026, caused by the detachment of conductors. TCN engineers have since worked to restring and complete maintenance on the affected sections of the transmission line,” the statement said.
With the transmission line back in operation, TCN said three electricity distribution companies—Benin Electricity Distribution Company, Eko Electricity Distribution Plc and Ikeja Electric—will now be able to receive increased power supply for onward distribution to customers within their franchise areas.
The company expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the outage and thanked affected customers and stakeholders for their patience and cooperation during the repair period.
TCN reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a reliable and efficient national transmission network to support improved electricity supply across the country.
