*Praises Folio’s Nigeria Grand Book As ‘National Treasure’
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, Esq. SAN, has been honoured with the DTN@100 Minister of the Decade award in recognition of his contributions to public service and governance.
Keyamo received the confirmation of the award on Wednesday when the Chairman of Folio Communications Plc and Publisher of The Daily Times paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja.
The minister described the honour as humbling and dedicated it to Nigerians and to public servants working to restore confidence in government institutions.
“I receive this award with gratitude and humility,” Keyamo said.
“It is not about me as an individual. It is about the collective effort to show that service above self is still possible in Nigeria,” the minister added.
Speaking on the DTN@100 project, the SAN commended Folio Communications for its resilience in documenting Nigeria’s 100-year journey through the Nigeria Grand Book.
He described the publication as a historic archive and a “national treasure” that will help present and future generations understand the country’s evolution.
“The Nigeria Grand Book is a pride to our nation. It captures our struggles, our triumphs, and the resilience of our people,” Keyamo stated.
“Folio has done well to keep the torch of journalism alive. In an era of fake news, this kind of painstaking documentation is what Nigeria needs.”
The minister said the award would spur him to do more in the aviation sector, stressing that safety, infrastructure upgrade, and investor confidence remain top priorities.
“Our goal is simple: to build an aviation industry that Nigerians are proud of, that is safe, efficient and globally competitive,” he added.
The Chairman of Folio Communications, while presenting the award, said Keyamo was selected for Minister of the Decade based on his visibility, legal pedigree, advocacy for the rule of law, and ongoing reforms in the aviation sector.
He noted that the DTN@100 awards and the Nigeria Grand Book were part of Folio’s centennial efforts to celebrate Nigerians who have shaped the nation’s story.
Senior officials of the Ministry of Aviation and management of Folio Communications were present at the meeting.
