The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Humanitarian Services, Hon. Margaret Itake Elayo, has expressed readiness to partner with development organisations to expand skills acquisition, youth empowerment and community development programmes across the state.
Elayo gave the assurance during a stakeholder meeting with a delegation from Grassroots Bridge Builders (GBB), the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) and the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS).
According to the delegation, the engagement highlighted the commissioner’s commitment to women’s empowerment, humanitarian services, youth development, skills acquisition and grassroots economic empowerment.
The group said Elayo’s people-oriented leadership and openness to collaboration had contributed significantly to improving the lives of women, youths and vulnerable groups in Nasarawa State.
The commissioner also pledged support for collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening community development in line with the development agenda of the Nasarawa State Government.
Speaking after the meeting, the Chief Executive Officer of Grassroots Bridge Builders, Engr. Ibrahim Moses Igoche, commended Elayo’s dedication, accessibility, integrity and passion for public service, describing her leadership as inspiring confidence among stakeholders and residents of the state.
Igoche disclosed that GBB, in collaboration with the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service, would seek a second engagement with the commissioner to begin wider stakeholder mobilisation and intensive awareness campaigns on skills acquisition and community empowerment programmes across the state.
He said the proposed initiative is designed to support sustainable development by increasing public participation in empowerment programmes and strengthening grassroots development efforts.
