EMBEI hails Peter Dunia’s emergence as 2026 LEEX Man of the Year

The Edo Must Build Edo Initiative (EMBEI) has congratulated the Chief Executive Officer of Oceanwave Group, Chief Peter Omoh Dunia, on his emergence as the 2026 Man of the Year at the 8th Leadership Excellence Awards (LEEX).

In a statement signed by its Publicity/Administrative Secretary, Comr. Mark Oboh, on Saturday, EMBEI described the award as a well-deserved recognition of Dunia’s contributions to indigenous enterprise, philanthropy, humanitarian service and community development.

Dunia emerged winner of the competitive Man of the Year category after a nationwide public voting exercise in which he polled 2,189,857 votes to defeat other finalists.

EMBEI said the large margin of victory demonstrated the level of goodwill and confidence enjoyed by the Oceanwave Group chief among Nigerians and people in the diaspora.

The organisation noted that Dunia’s contributions go beyond the establishment and growth of an indigenous offshore and marine logistics company, pointing to his interventions in education, healthcare, youth empowerment, community development and humanitarian assistance.

According to EMBEI, Dunia’s activities demonstrate that leadership should be measured not only by professional or financial success but also by the impact an individual makes on society.

“Chief Peter Omoh Dunia’s emergence as the 2026 LEEX Man of the Year is a recognition of excellence that goes beyond business. It is a celebration of a man whose vision, enterprise, generosity and commitment to humanity have continued to create opportunities and inspire hope.

“His story is a powerful reminder that when success is combined with compassion and a genuine desire to uplift others, it becomes a legacy that transcends generations,” EMBEI stated.

The group also congratulated Dunia for joining previous recipients of the LEEX Man of the Year Award, including entrepreneur and philanthropist Tony O. Elumelu, CFR; former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi; and industrialist Abdul Samad Rabiu, CFR.

EMBEI equally congratulated Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie on her emergence as the 2026 LEEX Woman of the Year, describing the recognition as another celebration of Nigerian excellence and global impact.

The organisation said the 8th Leadership Excellence Awards ceremony, scheduled for Thursday, November 12, 2026, at the Nigerian Air Force Banquet Hall, Abuja, would provide an opportunity to celebrate Dunia and other Nigerians recognised for their contributions to national development.

EMBEI wished Dunia continued success, wisdom and strength as he pursues initiatives aimed at supporting the development of Nigeria and improving the lives of others.
