Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has recorded enough achievements to present to Nigerians as the party prepares for nationwide electioneering ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Akpabio stated this on Monday when he received members of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions, TETFund and NELFund, led by its Chairman, Senator Dandutse Mohammed, at his residence in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
According to a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, the Senate President said the Tinubu administration inherited an economy in distress but had successfully begun to turn the situation around through what he described as innovative economic policies.
“He met an economy in shambles. When he came in, 27 states could not pay salaries and pensions but today, the story has changed because of his reengineering and thinking out of the box,” Akpabio said.
He expressed confidence that the achievements of the administration would earn Tinubu the support of Nigerians in 2027.
“In 2027 Nigerians will separate the chaff from the grain and re-elect President Tinubu for a second term,” he said.
Akpabio said the President’s interventions in the economy, agriculture, security, education and fiscal policy would form a major part of the APC’s campaign message ahead of the elections.
He also challenged opposition politicians to present their records in public office for comparison with the achievements of the Tinubu administration.
The Senate President commended members of the 10th National Assembly for what he described as “giant strides” and pledged that the Senate would continue to collaborate with the Executive to deliver more dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
He further urged senators who might not return to the 11th Senate to remain committed to the APC and continue to support President Tinubu.
Earlier, Mohammed said the committee was in Akwa Ibom State as part of its oversight and sensitisation activities on TETFund projects, as well as to assess and appreciate the impact of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund).
“Nigerian parents are happy because of NELFund and TETFund. This law is fundamental to the success story of the development of Nigeria, because education is key to success,” Mohammed said.
He noted that the interventions of both agencies were contributing to the development of the country’s education sector and improving access to tertiary education for Nigerians.
