The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin; Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim; and other prominent personalities are expected to attend the 16th edition of the Peace Achievers International Awards 2026 in Abuja.
The annual event, scheduled for November 7 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, will bring together political leaders, humanitarian workers, business executives, entrepreneurs, professionals, philanthropists, entertainers, media practitioners and civil society actors.
The convener of the awards, Amb. Dr. Kingsley Amafibe, disclosed this in a statement, saying the 2026 edition would recognise outstanding contributions to peacebuilding, leadership, humanitarian service, social development, entrepreneurship, public service, education, healthcare, entertainment, media and community development.
Amafibe said the awards were designed not only to celebrate professional accomplishments but also to acknowledge the impact individuals and organisations had made in their communities and society.
According to him, the event would honour personalities and institutions whose activities reflect peace, integrity, innovation, compassion, service and excellence, while encouraging others to make meaningful contributions to society.
He noted that peace extended beyond the absence of conflict, stressing that it also involved inclusion, dialogue, mutual respect, opportunity and the ability of individuals and communities to work together towards shared goals.
Amafibe said the 16th edition would therefore combine the celebration of achievements with conversations on peace, unity and responsible leadership.
He added that the event would highlight the contributions of individuals from different generations and sectors, while inspiring young people to pursue excellence, overcome challenges and deploy their talents and influence for the benefit of society.
The convener described the organisation of the 16th edition as a reflection of the continued relevance of recognising individuals and institutions contributing to peace, development and social progress.
He said this year’s edition would build on the legacy of previous ceremonies, with renewed emphasis on leadership, impact, service and excellence.
The 16th Peace Achievers International Awards 2026 is expected to provide a platform for influential stakeholders to network, exchange ideas and celebrate efforts aimed at promoting a more peaceful, inclusive and prosperous society.
