The Federal Government, through the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS), will empower 200 youths in Oyo State with practical skills and start-up tools to enable them establish or expand businesses.
The training, organised under the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education (OSSAP-TVEE), will hold from September 28 to October 9, 2026.
The Oyo programme is the first phase of an initiative expected to be replicated across the six geopolitical zones to widen access to vocational training, entrepreneurship support and sustainable livelihood opportunities for young Nigerians.
According to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on TVEE, Dr Abiola Arogundade, beneficiaries will be trained in three areas: Graphics and Artificial Intelligence (AI), Makeup, and Fashion Designing.
She said each participant would receive a complete training kit corresponding to their chosen field to support the transition from training to entrepreneurship.
Graphics/AI trainees will receive laptops, while Makeup trainees will receive fully equipped makeup kits. Fashion Designing trainees will receive sewing machines and starter kits.
The programme will culminate in a graduation and grand finale on October 9.
The Federal Government will also distribute 500 tablets to young Nigerians at the grand finale as part of its digital empowerment drive.
Arogundade said the initiative underscores the government’s commitment to equipping young Nigerians with practical skills, tools and opportunities to build sustainable livelihoods.
She added that through the NPRGS, the government was promoting skills development and entrepreneurship as pathways to greater economic participation and improved livelihoods among Nigerian youths.
