The Enugu State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC),Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, has commended the Local government election held in the 17 local government areas of Enugu as very peaceful and transparent.
He commended the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission, ENSIEC, the security agencies, local and national observers for their team work that enhanced the free and fair conduct of the election.
Speaking to newsnen after casting his vote at Central School Polling Unit 005 in Isu-Awaa/Ituku/Agbudu ward, the Enugu State APC Chairman expressed satisfaction with the voters turnout.
He expressed gratitude to God Almighty for granting a good weather that enabled the electorate to come out en masse to vote for candidates of their choice.
He also expressed optimism that APC is the party to beat in the election, saying its candidates performed creditably well in their first tenure by replicating the good works of Governor Peter Mbah at state level in their respective local government areas.
He said : “I gathered that there are large voters turnout in many wards across the state because the electorate want to return their various chairmen to be re-elected so they can continue with the good works they have started.
“Here in Awgu local government area, the people want Hon.Uche Okolo to continue.He has performed marvelously.In Isu – Awaa Community, he sank a water borehole and our people are angling for his re election, so they can benefit more of his Constiuency projects.”
The Enugu State APC chairman, assured that the same maximum support rendered to the 17 local government chairmen in Enugu state will be extended to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Pster Mbah in the 2027 General elections, stating they are working very hard in their portfolios as President of Nigeria and Governor of Enugu State respectively.
A community leader in Isu-Awaa,Elder Geoffrey Ugwu, who was a contractor in Kaduna state, told newsmen he sacrificed time to come out and vote because of the good governence in Enugu state,which is currently melting down into the rural areas.
Elder Ugwu, who also voted at Central School Polling unit 005 in Isu-Awaa/Ituku/Agbudu ward, said he want the Awgu local government Chairman, Hon.Uche Okolo to continue, therefore devoted time to come out and cast his vote to enhance his re-election.
In his own reaction, the Managing Director,;Enugu East zone bus terminal, Dr John Egbo, described the Enugu State local government electiions held on Saturday, September 26 as very peaceful.
Dr Egbo who voted in his ward,Amechi East Ward 1,in Enugu South local government area, also commended the electoral umpires ENSIEC for living up to expectations. He also thumped up for the security agencies and voters for their peaceful conduct.
He said there was no atom of violence in his ward, adding that the election provided an opportunity for friends to meet and chat with one another.
His words,” I am happy that the election ended peacefully in my polling unit at Amechi East Ward 1.It was a peaceful gathering. It provided an opportunity for many of us to stay together, hug,chat with one another and discuss”.
He commended Governor Mbah for his developmental strides in Enugu state that are forstering the fortunes of APC as the party to beat in Enugu state,Come 2027 General elections.
The trio of Dr.Chuedozie Nwafor, Ruth Barnabas and Doom Ageba, who were National observers sent from APC National Secretariat Abuja, told newsmen that the Enugu State Local government elections was very peaceful.
