The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched an immediate search and rescue operation following an aircraft accident involving an ATR-42 aircraft in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State.
The Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, saying the aircraft was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos when the accident occurred.
Ejodame said the NAF had mobilised its search and rescue capabilities in coordination with relevant authorities and emergency response agencies to locate and respond to the incident.
He said the ongoing operation was focused on ensuring the success of the search and rescue efforts, while stressing the NAF’s commitment to working with all relevant stakeholders.
The NAF spokesman said further details on the incident would be communicated as they become available.
The circumstances surrounding the accident, including the condition and whereabouts of those on board, were not immediately disclosed by the NAF.
