Authority Newspaper’s Editor emerges PG of Anambra community

The South East Editor of Authority Newspaper, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu(PhD) has been elected the President General(PG) of Amunuke community in Awka North LGA of Anambra State. Dr Odogwu is also the Anambra State Council Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

The election held on Saturday at the Union Primary School field in Amanuke, during which the Authority Newspaper Editor polled 576 votes to defeat his rival, Hon Simon Orakwe who got 532 votes.

Electoral officers from Anambra State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and office of the Local Government Chairman, Hon Thankgod Anago witnessed conduct of the election.

A large number of Amanuke indigenes from home and outside the state participated in the election, during which a team of joint security operatives, including Police, Civil Defence, Military and the State Vigilante Services maintained the peace.

The community was thrown into jubilation as soon as news of Dr Odogwu’s victory reached them.

In his election victory speech, Comrade Odogwu thanked the people of Amunuke for the confidence reposed in him even as he promised to take the community to greater heights under his watch.
