The Director-General of the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office (NMCO), Engr. Obadiah Simon Nkom, has urged staff of the agency to embrace forgiveness and mutual understanding to sustain the relationships built during their years of service, even after retirement.
Nkom gave the advice on Wednesday during a send-off ceremony organised in honour of three retiring staff members of the office in Abuja.
The retirees were head of the Finance and Accounts Department,
Mr Ogbonna Ndubuisi;
Mr Peter Audu of the Audit Unit, and Mr Sunday Amudekole of the Audit Unit.
The Director-General urged staff to learn to forgive one another and put past mistakes behind them, noting that such an attitude would help preserve the bonds and relationships established during their years of working together.
He emphasised the importance of maintaining cordial relationships beyond the workplace, encouraging staff to ensure that disagreements and misunderstandings did not destroy the friendships built during their service.
In his remarks, Ndubuisi expressed appreciation to the Director-General for his support and encouragement throughout his years in service.
He also thanked the management and staff of the office for their cooperation, guidance and contributions to his career.
Similarly, Audu highlighted the importance of endurance in the workplace, saying his ability to withstand various challenges had enabled him to achieve a lot during his years of service.
He expressed gratitude to Nkom for the support he received, particularly financial assistance and moral guidance, which he said had benefited both him and his family.
Audu added that his family deeply appreciated the Director-General’s kindness and support over the years.
In their goodwill messages, members of the management team described the retirees as committed staff members who had maintained cordial relationships with their colleagues throughout their service.
They noted that the retirees would be greatly missed by the management and other staff members, while wishing them success and fulfilment in their post-retirement lives.
The ceremony featured the presentation of souvenirs and awards to the retirees in recognition of their years of service and contributions to the office.
