Why we honour Hon. Bagos with a chieftaincy title- Shere Traditional Council

Member representing Jos South/East Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dachung Bagos has been conferred with the chieftaincy title, “Talban Shere” by the Shere Traditional Council, of Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State.

While conferring the chieftaincy title, the District Head of Shere, His Royal Highness, Ada John Haruna said, “This conferment is in recognition of Hon. Bagos’ passion for the development of not only Shere District, but the whole of Jos East; as well as his political exploits that have brought fame to the locals, particularly Shere District.

The Royal father described the lawmaker as a “reliable man” who deserved the honour, saying, the chieftaincy title “Talban Shere” means somebody who brings succour to the people.

Adding that, the legislator has proven to be a trusted ally in the constituency.

Also speaking, the Paramount Ruler of the Izere chiefdom, and His Royal Highness Isaac Wakili who was on tour to the District commended the lawmaker for his good representation at the National Assembly.

He said the traditional title is in recognition of the lawmaker’s performance, urging him to do more.

Wakili tasks all title holders to support the district head in developing the community.

Bagos while speaking with journalists after the event said he was elated, with the honour bestowed on him, and thanked the Jos East Traditional Council who deemed fit to honour him.

He said the chieftaincy title is an added responsibility to him and pledged to continue to work round the clock in giving his people a voice and good representation at the National Assembly.

He said the honour showed that his constituents in Jos East appreciated all he has been doing for them, especially since he was elected to represent them in the House of Representatives

Bagos, who assured his constituents that he would not relent in his efforts to serve the people of the constituency passionately.

According to him, “Tribe has made us to be identified culturally, bit as a person, I see myself both as an Afizere and Berom person, because God has brought us together and we are moving as one people; and politics, religion or ethnicity will not divide us”.

Also speaking, a former member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Isaac Arin said, “Hon Bagos has a proven track record, and the people can attest to this fact. I am proud of him, and wish him goodness in all his endeavours.

“He is a good representative of the people, as evidenced in today’s conferment, and we can only pray for him to go higher and higher,” he stressed.

Bagos, at the ceremony attended by an array of dignitaries from within and outside Jos, was bestowed with the traditional title of “Talban of Shere”.
