The Executive Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Elder Steve Orogwu, has confirmed the killing of his three brothers by unknown gunmen at his Ekpaomaka hometown.
The Chairman in a telephone conversation disclosed that the gunmen invaded his resident on Tuesday night while he was away and killed three of his brothers and a neighbor whose identify was yet to be revealed.
It was further gathered that the hoodlums destroyed some houses in the compound after they succeeded in killing four persons.
A source who doesn’t want his name on print stated, “the incident had nothing to do with sit at home because it happened at night. Those innocent people killed were not seen on the road. The attackers traced them to their country home where they killed them, while their brother who is the local government chairman escaped following his absence from home. So anyone saying it was connected to sit at home is not saying the truth”.
It was learnt that the corpses of the victims have been deposited at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki.
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Loveth Odah, said she was away on official assignment, but assured she would direct her second in command to react to the incident.
