NSCDC parades suspected drug dealers in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has paraded four  persons allegedly dealing in illegal drugs at the Abuja suburbs.

The civil defence commandant,  Dr Peter  Maigari who paraded the suspects on Thursday at the command headquarters, said the suspects were apprehended base on the information from members of the public around Mararaba, at the boundary between Nasarawa and the Federal Capital Territory Administration.

He said the arrest proves the cordial collaboration that exist between NSCDC and members of the public .

According to him, the fight against illegal drugs need to be a partnership affairs that shouldn’t be left in the hands of the security agents alone .

Maigari called on the public and other security agencies to sustain the fight against criminal elements across the country.

The commandant said: “Public support is working, is through the efforts that we arrested these four suspects. It is the information given by the public that led us to this arrest, so I am urging them to continue with the support.

“They were arrested by the CG’s response and intelligence team in conjunction with our officers who went on a normal patrol at the boundary between Nasarawa and Abuja, precisely Karu and Mararaba.” 

He handed over the suspects to the commander FCT National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.

Receiving the suspects, the FCT commander of NDLEA, Mohammed Ajiya said the arrest and handing over shows the good relationship that exist between the agency and NSCDC.

Ajiya who was represented by the Deputy Commander operations and Intelligence, Ayodeji Olawale Asa, said as the agency saddled with the responsibility, due diligence will be done.
