A display of solidarity and compassion has been witnessed in the efforts to support families affected by the tragic activities of unknown gunmen in Ideato communities, according to a press release from, Charles Okafor, GDF Media Director on Thursday.
According to release, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the Representative of Ideato, in Imo State had initiated a targeted donation drive, seeking 50 million Naira from his friends and associates to provide relief to these families.
The release stated: “We are pleased to announce that this initiative has achieved remarkable success, with the funds received not only reaching but surpassing the targeted amount.
“The generous contributions received will be utilized to address the multifaceted needs of the victims’ families. Specifically, the funds will be allocated to enhance the welfare of these families, support the education of their children, and provide resources to boost their businesses. Additionally, the vigilantes in the affected communities, who have played a crucial role in maintaining security, will also benefit from this initiative.
“As preparations are underway for the public disbursement of the funds, Hon. Ikenga extends his sincere appreciation to his friends and associates for their kindness and generosity. Their response to this humanitarian call is a testament to the power of community and the impact of collective efforts in times of need.”
The release continued: “While acknowledging the significance of this achievement, it is also essential to recognize the role of local and state governments in providing sustained support to these communities. Beyond immediate relief, empowering community security groups in all Ideato communities is crucial for preventing future incidents of violence and ensuring long-term peace and stability. It is hoped that the governments will fulfill their responsibilities by providing comprehensive support to the victims and empowering local security initiatives.”
