Barely 48 hours after cheating death, a member of Zamfara State House of Assembly, Alhaji Kabiru Mikailu is still receiving medical treatment following various degree of injuries he sustained as a result of the attack launched on him by some aggrieved people of his constituency.
The tragedy happened when the governor of the State, Dauda Lawan visited Dansadau, where the victim hails from to inspect a road project, but unknown to the member, a large crowd of some youths have stationed themselves with different dangerous weapons.
On arrival at the venue, the mobs began to shout violently at the member, calling him unprintable names in the presence of the governor, and subsequently began to pelt him with different objects, including shoes and sachet water.
Others rushed to his face assaulting him with slaps as well as sticks and stones.
The member was accused by the people of his constituency of betrayal that since the day he was elected to represent them, he completely abandoned them, and even for once, he has never stepped his leg into the area.
They also said he was never resourceful to the entire constituency.
According to them, all that happened to the people of the area, ranging from death to destruction as a result of banditry, the member has never either condoled or sympathized with the families of the victims, not even to talk of assisting them as done by his colleagues.
Kabiru who tried to escape, and despite the presence of the security who escorted the governor, could not succeed, as even the security became helpless, until when some servants of the emir of the emirate, as it happened at the palace, came to his rescue.
