President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially obtained the nomination form of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to seek re-election to the presidency in 2027.
The President became the first aspirant to secure the form on Tuesday in Abuja, shortly after the ruling APC commenced the sale of nomination forms for party members seeking to contest various positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Tinubu was represented at the event by James Faleke, who represents Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Hon. Faleke received the form after making payment of N100 million, the amount fixed by the party for the presidential nomination form.
The form was presented to him by Sulaiman Argungu, the National Organising Secretary of the party.
Speaking to journalists afterwards, Faleke explained that the nomination form was purchased through contributions from supporters of Tinubu and Nigerians across the country. “There is no one particular person that has done this. It is on behalf of all Nigerians,” he said.
Faleke stated that more than 1,000 contributors from Lagos participated in raising funds for the form, explaining that only a few representatives were delegated to complete the process.
He expressed confidence that Tinubu would emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential poll.“By the grace of God, he will contest and he will win the election,” he stated.
Reacting to the recent meeting of opposition political parties in Ibadan aimed at presenting a consensus candidate against the President, Faleke said such alliances were part of democratic practice.
“Political parties can come together as part of democracy. When we do our work, they will do their work,” he said.
