DG Raw Materials commends NAWOJ FCT for duccessful outing on market advocacy

The Director-General of Raw Materials Research and Development Council, (RMRDC), Dr. Nnanyelugo Martin Ike-Muonso, has applauded the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) FCT, for its commitment to women development, grassroots sensitisation, and nation-building, assuring the delegation of the Council’s continued support and sustained collaboration with NAWOJ FCT.

Speaking through the Director, Directorate of Corporate Affairs, Chinyere Nnamdi-Anum, during a courtesy visit to the Director General, he appreciated the NAWOJ FCT members and commended them for what he described as an impressive and impactful outing.

He praised the association for its commitment to women development, grassroots sensitisation, and nation-building, assuring the delegation of the Council’s continued support and sustained collaboration with NAWOJ FCT. Highlight of the visit was the presentation of a plaque by the Chairperson and members of NAWOJ FCT to the Director-General in recognition of his support, leadership, and unwavering belief in the vision of the association.

The visit further reinforced the growing partnership between NAWOJ FCT and RMRDC in promoting development-focused advocacy, women empowerment, and national progress.

Earlier, the Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang, commended the DG for his immense support towards the success of the NAWOJ FCT Marketplace Advocacy Programme. Bassey expressed profound gratitude to the DG for his encouragement, partnership, and belief in the association’s vision, which significantly contributed to the remarkable success recorded during the advocacy programme.

She noted that the initiative successfully reached women at the grassroots with critical information on health, education, civic responsibility, democratic participation ahead of the 2027 elections, and the importance of embracing opportunities within the raw materials value chain.

According to her, the advocacy created awareness on the need for women to key into local production, processing, entrepreneurship, and value addition as viable pathways to economic empowerment and national development. Comrade Bassey Ita-Ikpang further highlighted that the keynote presentation by Dr. Grace Adebiye, Director Gender, RMRDC was insightful and impactful, as it enlightened many women on the enormous economic opportunities embedded within the raw materials sector and the need for innovation and productivity.

She explained that the testimonies and feedback received from participants showed that the programme made meaningful impact by empowering women with knowledge, confidence, and motivation to become more active contributors within their communities, the economy, and the democratic process.

The NAWOJ FCT Chairperson specially appreciated the Director-General for accepting to serve as Patron of the association, describing his support as a major source of strength and credibility to the organisation’s activities. She reaffirmed the commitment of NAWOJ FCT to professionally and positively amplify the programmes, achievements, and developmental strides of the Council through responsible journalism and advocacy.

Comrade Bassey Ita-Ikpang also expressed optimism towards the signing of the proposed Memorandum of Understanding between both organisations, while looking forward to stronger collaborations for societal growth and national development.
