June bye-election: INEC publishes names of Labaran Maku, 19 others

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the name of former minister of information and communication, Mr. Labaran Maku and 19 other candidates for by-election scheduled to hold on June 20, 2026, across six states of the federation.

The elections are aimed at filling vacant seats in the Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly.

Rivers South East Senatorial District
Douglas Fabeeke Beeka (AA)
Osarosaka Ebenezer Erewari (APC)
Sam Kinanee Barikpoa (LP)
Nwogu Olaka Johnson (PDP)

Enugu North Senatorial District
Asogwa Ikeje Israel (APC)
Aneke Kingsley Chukwuebuka (BP)
Ezeme Nestor Chika (PDP)

Kebbi State House of Assembly – Zuru Constituency
Garba Aiki Rabiu (APC)
Aliyu Galadima Muhammad (LP)
Kano State – Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency

The June 20 polls will fill legislative vacancies in Ondo, Nasarawa, Rivers, Enugu, Kebbi, and Kano States following deaths, appointments, and other developments that created vacant seats in the affected constituencies.

INEC has assured stakeholders of its readiness to conduct credible elections across all designated polling areas.
