The National Examinations Council (NECO) has alerted members of the public to the activities of fraudsters operating fake online recruitment portals for examination supervisors ahead of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.
The examination body said the fraudulent platforms were soliciting applications from unsuspecting individuals, requesting details of their academic credentials and demanding payments under the guise of recruitment.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, NECO cautioned prospective applicants to disregard such portals, stressing that the council does not charge any fee for supervisor recruitment.
“NECO wishes to inform the public that the Council does not request for any payment from teachers applying to serve as examination supervisors in the forthcoming 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal,” the statement said.
The council explained that it had introduced a fully electronic recruitment process for supervisors and assistant supervisors in line with recommendations aimed at improving the quality and credibility of public examinations in the country.
According to NECO, the transition from the previous analogue system is part of efforts to strengthen examination supervision and curb irregularities in the recruitment process.
The council stated that all qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above who are at least 30 years old and interested in serving as supervisors for the 2026 SSCE Internal should apply through its official recruitment portal.
“Consequently, all qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above who are not less than 30 years of age and are interested in serving as supervisor in the 2026 SSCE Internal, should apply on NECO Website: https://supervisor.neco.gov.ng”, the council said.
NECO further emphasized that the recruitment process is fully automated and does not require the involvement of any third party.
“It should be noted that the supervisor recruitment on NECO website is fully automated and no third party is required,” the statement added.
The examination body noted that the new digital recruitment system would help prevent fraud, reduce examination malpractice and enhance transparency, fairness and credibility in the selection of supervisors.
NECO disclosed that more than 22,000 supervisors would be recruited for the 2026 SSCE Internal examination, which is scheduled to commence on June 15.
