The Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Taraba Chapter, Hon. Moses Maihankali, has stated that Gov. Agbu Kefas’ leadership commitment has endeared him to the hearts of Tarabans as the state marks 35 years.
Maihankali stated this in an interview with our correspondent in Jalingo during the celebration of Taraba State @35, where he congratulated Gov. Kefas and the entire people of the state on the historic milestone.
He said the celebration calls for sober reflection, pointing out that Gov. Kefas’ three and a half years in office had clearly changed the narrative of the state’s 35 years of existence.
According to him, the unprecedented achievements ranging from education, agriculture, healthcare, security, civil service reform, women and youth empowerment, among several others, stand tall as a testament to the present administration.
The ALGON boss, who is also the Executive Chairman of Kurmi Local Government Area, also commended the governor for the critical maintenance of both new and old (abandoned) government facilities established by previous administrations.
Also speaking on the recent unveiling of the Taraba Development Master Plan, the ALGON chairman described it as a major breakthrough in the history of the 35-year-old Taraba, noting that posterity would remember Gov. Kefas for initiating a long-term framework for sustainable development and future generations.
He further pointed out that the master plan would serve as a catalyst for successive leaders in the state, while expressing optimism that the implementation of policies and programmes would guarantee development, move development closer to the grassroots, and form part of the broader dream of the patriotic people of the state.
He also stated that effective grassroots development remains critical to achieving inclusive growth, as local governments are best positioned to identify and respond to the immediate needs of communities.
As the 2027 general election draws nearer, Maihankali solicited support from across the board to ensure Gov. Agbu Kefas records an uninterrupted 100 per cent re-election and encouraged youths to embrace education, entrepreneurship and other positive values.
He tasked Tarabans on the need for collective effort, cooperation and commitment to peace and development as Taraba marked its significant milestone at 35.
