A coalition of Christian youths have condemned in totalitythe evil plot by self acclaimed human rights activist,Omoyele Sowore to destabilize the church by staging apolitical protest in Dunamis Church. The groups in a communique signed by Amb. Phil Robertsissued in Abujasaid that the meeting was aimed at bringing Christianyouths together to unify the church and Nigeria irrespectiveof prevailing challenges.
The groups called on all youth bodies to dissociatethemselves from politics of religion and ethnicity, bearing inmind that religion and ethnicity will only fuel needlesstension and pull us farther apart as a people. The communique read in part, “We condemn the evil plot bythe self-acclaimed human right activist, Omoyele Sowore todestabilize the church by staging a political protest inDunamis Church on Sunday, 4th July, 2021. Sowore in hisown statement shamelessly denied the conduct of anyprotest, even while he was live streaming the same protestwith the caption, “BUHARI MUST GO Campaign HitsDunamis Church in Abuja.”
“Sowore’s continued tirades against the church is part ofhis desperate ploy to whip up sentiment, sway publicopinion, elicit public sympathy, all with the heinous intentionfor blackmail.
“We condemn in totality, the campaign of calumny andmedia war being waged against the church by Sowore andhis cohorts. Even though the DSS admitted to arresting theboys, Sowore remains brazenly relentless in his evilcampaign to smear the name of the church and the reveredman of God.
”The groups questioned the rationale behind the protest, expressing worries that a protest against the government isbeing staged in the church.“Come to think of it, what could have been the rationalebehind his leading a protest against the government to achurch? Is the church the seat of government? Who isSowore protesting against, the church or the government?
We implore everyone to critically look into the abovequestions and satisfy their conscience with balanced andobjective answers via a vis what sowore and his peoplehave been posting online,” the communique read
The groups further stated that, the collective yearning forpositive change and leadership transformation in the landtakes the centre stage but however, engagement in thequest for change should be done in an orderly and civilizedmanner.“Sowore’s congenital disposition to delinquency, lawlessness, rascality and venality detracts from ourcollective hope and aspiration for honest, sincere, andtransparent leadership.
Sowore’s Mephistophelian quest forfame remains the only driver of his actions even againstreason, public interest and progress. His conducts are oftenat variance with the interest of the very people he isostensibly fighting for.
“We won’t be cowed into embracing anarchy in our questfor change, and so, the youths should avoid the societalplague called Sowore. People like him should be avoidedand denigrated, not embraced and celebrated,” thecommunique added
The groups therefore called on church leaders to rise up tothe occasion and speak for the church so as not to allow anuncultured, irreligious political delinquent, sustain hisunwarranted attacks on the church adding that he shouldnot be allowed to infest Christian youths with his moraldegeneracy, political rascality and ethical bankruptcy.
The groups also urged the Nigerian Government to callSowore to order. The groups in the communique, alsoimplored Nigerians to read facts and refuse to be swayed byhateful sentiments by a drowning man like Sowore
“We therefore call on the Nigerian Government to do theirjob and call Sowore to order. We are shocked that he is stillprowling around causing more havoc even while he hasmany unending cases in courts on account of hisantecedent recklessness, crookedness and waywardness.
“As the youths of Nigeria, we implore everyone to readfacts, maintain objectivity and refuse to be swayed byhateful sentiments being peddled by self-seeking charlatansand political nonentities. We will never allow a drowningman like Sowore pull others into his swirling pool of politicalmisdirection, hopelessness and woes.
“We are, therefore, sending a note of warning to Sowore andhis cohorts to desist from further campaign of calumnyagainst the church of Jesus Christ and revered servants ofGod, if they have a modicum of character and sense,” thecommunique read
