STRENGTHENING THE BOND OF UNITY TO ACHIEVE RESULT – OKWENNA CHARGED FOND

Former Commissioner for Environment, Mineral Resources, Science and Technology in the Peter Obi-led administration and frontline PDP governorship aspirant in Anambra State, Dr. Ifedi Okwenna, has charged members of the Federation of Old Nnewi Division (FOND) to always remain united and work with unity of purpose in order to actualize their purpose of having the sub-zone produce the next governor of Anambra state.

Dr. Okwenna gave the advise while addressing a Special Meeting of this association at the inner chambers of the Igwe Orizu Palace at Nnewi, Anambra state.

He charged the members drawn from three local government areas of Nnewi-North, Nnewi-South and Ekwusigo that made up Old Nnewi, that now is the best opportunity for the sub-zone to produce the governor of Anambra state.

He charged them that “as a serious-minded, hardworking people, any governor from this zone will provide good governance to Ndi Anambra. He will develop the state, grow our economy, provide job for our youths and manage our resources prudently.

“But for it to happen Ndi Old Nnewi must strengthen the bond of unity between them and work hard to have this dream actualized as power is never given but taken”.

He appreciated the organization, especially the executives, for establishing and piloting the Association since 2015.

Ifedi Okwenna used the opportunity to formally unveil his intention to vie for the office of the Governor of Anambra State and urged members of the organization and indeed the entire sub-zone to give him maximum support.

He stated that if elected governor, he will grow the economy, support local investments, promote innovation, and make Anambra state, the leading centre for trade, commerce and industry amongst other things contained in his manifesto.

In his speech, President of FOND, Dr JAP Nwokolo, reiterated that the inability of the Old Nnewi block to produce governor had been due to “our carefree manner of playing politics and in not uniting our forces for collective gains”.

Dr Nwokolo, who was the former President of Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU), urged capable hands from the zone to show interest to contest for the office of the governor now.

He commended Dr. Okwenna on his aspirations and urged him to work hard to become the next governor of Anambra state.

He congratulated him on his wonderful manifesto and for the great delivery while discussing his aspiration.
He appreciated Dr Okwenna for honoring their invitation and prayed God to give him the enablement to finish victoriously.
