Police Special Protection Unit: Global Peace Group hails Akpabio

Global Peace Movement International UK (GPMI), has applauded the Minister for Niger-Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio for what it called Akpabio’s genuine effort towards an enduring peace in the Niger-Delta region and Nigeria as a whole.

This commendation came as Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday commission a Police Barracks, Special Protection Unit (SPU) base 6 at Omagwa in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, a project built by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Also describing the minister as a living legend, the group said Akpabio deserved more commendation for breaking odds and demonstrating his love for the country through transparency and purposeful leadership.

President General of the group, Dr. Mike Uyi said the inauguration of Muhammadu Buhari Police Special Protection Unit of the Nigerian Police will not only benefit the people of the Niger Delta alone, but the whole of Nigeria.

According to him, the project would add value to the living conditions of the security officers in the Niger-Delta region.

“The uncommon effort of the minister of the Niger Delta, towards sustaining peace in the oil- producing region must be encouraged and commended by every lover of peace and development in Nigeria”.

“Akpabio popularly known as The Uncommon Transformer for his exceptional feat in the transformation of Akwa Ibom State from a relatively unknown state to a wonder of the world in a 21st Century depicted a rare courage to walk into the Lion’s Den at the time most of the Government officials have scampered to safety in the face of the heightened insecurity in the country”.

Akpabio is man that cannot be intimidated, he came into office of the Niger Delta Ministry when the ministry that was created for development of the the region had become the milk cow for just a few persons. we can see that today, Akpabio has changed the narratives. it is now doing what it is officially created for.

“GPMI is gallantly applauding the Minister of Niger Delta, Sen. Godswill Akpabio and all his management team for a job well-done and bringing the people together to benefit from the aim of setting the ministry”

“The uncommon courage to navigate through the troubled waters of the Niger Delta reflect a no-snobbery mentality nor an ego-polishing leader who has seen it all in terms of power, affluence and fame. Rather it shows a great but scarce attribute known as humility which is rarely seen amongst the high and mighty in Government”.
