Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has expressed its readiness for the planned assessment visit of the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the smooth take-off of the newly established Medical College and Faculty of Engineering.
Spokesman of the University, Mr Abraham Ekpo, told newsmen on Friday that as soon as NUC completes its inspection and grant approval for the medical and engineering courses, the institution will commence the process of admission into the new programmes.
According to him, the faculty of engineering has received massive support from some local and international partners, who have already made commitments towards equipping it with necessary equipment.
Ekpo, who also debunked allegations of hike in registration fee of the state-owned university, said the management had never at anytime thought of doing so,but instead has been working towards ensuring affordable learning to all students.
“Let me categorically state in clear terms here that the Nasarawa State University, Keffi and its management team has never had it in any of it deliberation to hike fees for students, especially the fact that a greater percentage of our students are indigent, whose parents are mostly civil servants and some farmers,” he said.
The information officer said renovation work are ongoing in the institution’s auditorium, hostels and some blocks of classrooms, while more effort has been intensified toward provisions of water,as additional numbers of three boreholes were added to the existing ones with an over head tank of about 2,000-litre capacity.
