Police in FCT have arrested two suspected phone snatchers at the weekend.
The two suspects, according to men and officers at Wuse police Division attempted to steal handsets after Juma’at prayers at the Central mosque.
During interrogation at the police station, one of the suspects, Nura Dahiru 26 caught in possession of three handsets testified to the police that he stoled two of the phones.
Another victim, Aliyu Ahmed said that the suspect removed the set from his pocket when worshippers were moving out of the mosque.
He further revealed that when he noticed that he turned immediately and held the suspect before a police officer approach them for interrogation.
The Divisional Police Officer, (DPO) in charge of Wuse, CSP Mammam Joseph advised criminals to look for a legitimate means of livelihood or face the wrath of the law.
He noted that patrol team would be intensified in Churches and mosques with a view to preventing any form of criminal act that may crop up in Wuse jurisdiction especially during worship hours.
Joseph tasked residents of Wuse and environs to work closely with the police to bring crime rate to standstill in the area just as he appealed to community leaders to always preach for peaceful coexistence.
The Chief Suprintendent of Police said phone numbers were provided to reach him in the event of distress call even as he assured the residents of police response without delay.
