Mothering Sunday: Mrs. Ibezim Calls for Gender Balanced Society

Mrs. Martha Chioma Ibezim has called for a more gender balanced society for a better society. This is contained in her 2020 goodwill message to mothers all over the world particularly Anglican mothers to mark the 2020 mothering Sunday.

Mrs. Ibezim who is the President of Mother’s Union, Women’s and Girls’ Guild, Province of the Niger, Anglican Communion, called for celebration of the great achievements by women all over the world particularly women from the rural areas to motivate others to strive for success.

Mrs. Ibezim said further that women have the capability to discover themselves and utilize their potentials in positioning for an equal and an egalitarian society, hence ,women should be given the level playing ground they deserve in the scheme of things.

Mrs Ibezim encouraged women to network and support building a gender balanced society while also charging them to stand against bias and raise awareness anywhere such exists.

She advised mothers to pay adequate attention to their children and family as such attention will not only ensure proper up-bringing of the children but helps to reduce crime and other vices in the society.

She said that Mothers’ roles in the family building cannot be over-emphasized and should not be underestimated by anyone hence women should be shown the love and appreciation they deserve from men and the society at large.

“Women and mothers perform the bulk of domestic chores including the task of raising the children, even though fathers always take the glory of progressive children and mothers take the blame of ill performing children.

“ Men are always busy if not too busy to attend to their children but I know most families where mothers play back up roles for their husbands by attending to their children round the clock showing them love, care and attention without poising the minds of the children against their fathers.”

She urged mothers and future mothers to fear God and see God as the foundation in their marriage and reject everything that would bring dissolution of their marriage founded on love and God , adding that the church has always been against rape and same sex marriage, which according to her is not only humiliating and condescending but out rightly sin against God.
