I’m Staying At Lille For Another Season, Osimhen Declares

Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen has ruled out a move away from French Ligue 1 side, Lille this summer transfer window despite several offers from top European club sides.

Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea are some of the top English Premier League (EPL) sides presently linked to have interest in the Nigerian striker.

The former Wolfsburg of Germany player has been a big revelation at Lille this season which is his first with the club, scoring 18 goals in all competitions with 13 of the goals coming from Ligue 1 despite the season being called off midway due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As expected his form attracted top European club sides and Lille were opened to the idea of letting him leave to recoup their investment in the player but the 21 year old striker has rather insisted that he wants to spend another season at the club so as to consolidate his form.

“Osimhen has informed Lille that he won’t be leaving the club this summer. For now that’s his stand but anything can change. The idea is to have him play another season and establish himself properly before leaving Lille. It’s a decision that has been communicated to the club,” said a member of his new management team.

“There have been some offers but the player decided against it. I think we had as many as six the last time out but his decision to remain at the club for another season is our proposal for Lille to accept,” the source added.
